Gelateria Venezia - Italian passion in Kirn, Simmern and Martinstein The families Ceol and Toldo families come from an Italian gelato tradition that dates back to the 19th century. In 1986, the first Eiscafé Venezia opened its doors in Kirn; today, the delicious gelato specialities are offered on the market square - by Raffaela Ceol and Gianni Toldo, who have been skilfully continuing the artisanal legacy of their ancestors since 2002. In 2021, they added a gelateria in Simmern - and in 2023 a gelato kiosk in Martinstein. In the summer months, a historic gelato van also tours the neighbouring villages. Gelato making is in Raffaela and Gianni's blood: they combine traditional, tried-and-tested skills with new, innovative approaches. Above all, they want to put a smile on their customers' faces with their various creations. They have not been short of awards: Gianni, for example, was crowned German Champion in 2016 - with his creation ‘Seduction of Aphrodite’ (Greek yoghurt, cranberry, various nuts and shortcrust crumble). Both he and Raffaela are also involved on the boards of various associations to ensure the quality of gelato (as Maestri della Gelateria Italiana, Accademia della Gelateria Italiana in Germania). Two further creations, which are running successfully since many years are: the flavour ‘Bitter Passion’ (mango and passion fruit sorbet with pistachio marbling and bitter chocolate drops) and the ‘Cremino’ variety (layered ice cream with nougat, white chocolate and hazelnut cream).
