Tiziano Damiano

Rathausplatz 3, 94065 Waldkirchen(Germany)

As a child, Tiziano Damiano used to help his grandfather selling gelato on a street cart on the beaches of Salento in South Italy. It was the smell of that vanilla gelato, flavored with fresh lemon peel and a drop of olive oil, that drove Tiziano to follow this inspiration and become a gelatiere. He left his village in Apulia at the age of 15 and moved to Düsseldorf to his uncle, who had an ice-cream parlour, where he learned the art of gelato artisanal production. After several years of experience in other gelato parlours, he and his wife opened their own parlour in Waldkirchen in Bavaria in 2006. Their children Antonio and Isabel have meanwhile joined the business and work with their parents. Passion, specialization courses, the creation of new flavours and great attention to ingredients are the priorities of Tiziano's work. The milk flavours are made with regional organic milk and the sorbets only with natural fresh fruit.

Most recognisable for: Chocolate, sorbets and the house speciality Crème Napolae, a homage to the Amalfi coast, which is a cream flavour with rose petals, orange, lemon and caramelised almonds.
